Obedience to the Church, as Our Lady was
obedient to the Will of God.

As it was to such an eminent degree of humility that Our Lady submitted in obedience to the will of God, so does each member of the community return to her Creator her inherent rights over her own will. She freely offers to Him the homage of her obedience to the authority He left in His Church, and invested in lawful superiors, and even to each other in the community. A sister by professing obedience commits herself to listen attentively and to respond eagerly to the will of God as revealed in Scriptiure, the Holy Rule, the prioress, the community, the Church and in herself, obedience is a mutual blessing to be shown by all, not only to the prioress, but also to one another as sisters.
